What work should be done to maintain the drill rod sealing components of RC drill rigs to avoid construction failures?
The routine inspection of drill pipe sealing components is the foundation of maintenance. Before and after each construction, the staff needs to check whether the sealing ring at the drill pipe joint is intact. If cracks, deformation, or aging of the sealing ring are found, it is necessary to replace it with a sealing ring of the same model in a timely manner to prevent mud leakage from the sealing gap, which may affect the negative pressure suction effect. At the same time, check whether there are residual sediment impurities in the sealing groove. If there are impurities, they need to be cleaned up with a special tool to avoid abrasion of the sealing ring by the impurities.
The lubrication and maintenance of sealing components cannot be ignored. The sealing surface of the drill pipe joint needs to be coated with special lubricating grease weekly. The lubricating grease can reduce the friction loss between the sealing ring and the drill pipe, extend the service life of the sealing components, and enhance the sealing effect to prevent mud from infiltrating into the sealing area. Before applying the lubricating grease, ensure that the sealing surface is dry and clean to avoid mixing of grease and impurities, which may affect the lubrication effect.
Sealing protection is also crucial during long-term storage. If the RC reverse circulation drill is not in use for more than a week, the drill rod needs to be disassembled, and waterproof protective film should be wrapped around the sealing components to prevent moisture in the air from causing the sealing rings to deteriorate. At the same time, the disassembled drill rod should be stored in a dry and ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight or rainwater immersion, to ensure that the sealing components can function properly during the next use, without delaying the construction progress.
